What is the purpose of the new Green Building Cost Section?
Marshall & Swift's Green Building Cost section aids in learning about Green building and helps pinpoint the cost of Green building features.
What do the Green costs include?
Green Costs are provided in two sections - where applicable, commercial and residential costs for Green Additions and Adjustments as well as Retrofits. Additions are items that can be added to an existing structure. Adjustments are costs that can be used as substitutions to standard items found in the square foot or segregated sections. Retrofits are costs to remove a standard item and replace it with a Green item.
Are these Green costs also available on CD?
Yes. Please request the Green Building Cost CD by calling Customer Service, 1-800-544-2678 M-F 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Pacific. Purchase price is the same for booklet or CD.
Are these Green costs of use if I am not a Marshall Valuation Service or Residential Cost Handbook customer?
You must have an updated Marshall Valuation Service or Residential Cost Handbook license to use the Green Costs.
How will Marshall & Swift differentiate cost data coming from green buildings vs. standard buildings?
Certified green buildings are identified by their certification or ratings. Currently, we validate and research cost on registered Green structures. In light of the fact that not all green structures receive Green ratings or certification, it becomes difficult to compile cost information on all green costs (retrofit, additions and purpose built). As green building becomes more common place it will become easier to assemble and analyze. Marshall & Swift has a team that research, analyze and cost green elements and has developed relationships with multiple organizations that offer Marshall & Swift insight to their building projects and costing.
